Cakery Visit

S. S. Jain Subodh Management Institute under the aegis of Institute’s innovation Council organized an industrial visit to a budding start-up ‘Cakery’ on 29th May, 2024. The objective of industrial visit was to bridge the widening gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure by giving students first-hand exposure to identify the inputs and outputs of baking business operations and processes performed at the workplace. The MBA students visited the factory where they got the knowledge about manufacturing of cake making, bread making, chocolate making etc. and students get a chance to engage in fun learning. They learnt about the various steps of cake and bread making i.e making the mix, kneading the mix, cutting the mix, moulding, proofing, baking, packaging, storage and dispatch. The cake making team demonstrated the working of mixer, oven, proofing & cooling chamber and bread slicer section. The students also got hands-on-experience of cake making. The start-up was established in year 2018 with the manufacturing of cake, bread and other bakery products. During the industrial visits, the students get an opportunity to experience how entrepreneurs and professionals work, and learn about various management concepts like Just in Time, Lean manufacturing, automation, technology etc. and how they are put into action. This visit proved to be an excellent platform for networking as the students interacted with the founder of Cakery Mr. Ankur and leant about various strategies and challenges of running a start-up. At the end, the students were also treated with delicious cakes and freebies from the company. Prof. Dr Raju Agrawal, Director, S. S. Jain Subodh Management Institute and IIC President thanked the team for organizing an industrial visit to baking sector. He addressed that the purpose of an industrial visit is not just about giving students a break from their regular academic routine, but also to ensure that they gain practical insights and develop an understanding of real-world industry dynamics. Industrial visits are usually the first point of interaction between a student and a live working industry. The students learn about the latest technology trends and make up their minds about their future jobs or areas of interest.
